The Jobe Max Clinic Tour

The Jobe Max Clinic Tour

By:Maxine Sapulette

Since I have won the World championships last December in Abu Dhabi, I was so stoked on being back on the water..!
Unlucky last year I had some troubles with my heart and that kept me off the water. I was finally ready to get back this year, but I needed a surgery on my right shoulder last February, this pain had been in there since the Protest Cable Call 2010.
So I had surgery in February and now my sling is coming off this Friday. Have physiotherapy 3 times a week. I hit the gym twice a week if possible. Working my ass off to get back on the water and wanting to ride without anything stopping me. It will still take a couple more months before I can start practising sick tricks but, time flies and I will keep up the good work.
During my healing of course I will do The Jobe Max Clinics, not just given in Holland but this season I am even going towards Belgium, England and Germany to teach people and to promote the Jobe Max Series! Very happy with this year’s graphics and for the first year I have my own bindings and I love them!

Are you interested in testing my Max board and bindings? Come over and check out the Jobe Max clinics and maybe I could teach you some cool tricks, even though I’m not going to be able to ride with you at first but hopefully from August on I will be able to ride again, so riders, see you at cable call!

Cheers

So after 10 days riding at Hip-Notics with Sjors I had to leave to Abu Dhabi.. It was awesome to go to the Arabic Emirates and see their culture. Once settled in the hotel it was time to ride and practice…!
The cable was really small and some blurry obstacles but still a cable park in a freaking hot country with all the other riders, just made me smile. We rode a lot and then in the qualification it was time to set the starting order for us women in finals. We had 5 women and 4 would go into the finals. It was me on 1st then Angie, 3rd Tor and 4th Denise. I was very stoked I landed my run, but very nervous. Although I landed a good run and had to start last in finals.. In between finals we had some days to check out Abu Dhabi. We went to this massive electro party that’s called Cream Fields and had loads of fun there, DJ Tiësto and many other DJ's were there!!

We have been to Ferrari World as well. It was just unbelievable how everything looked like and all the rollercoasters..
So after partying and sightseeing for two days we had our finals on Saturday. I was last one at the dock and saw the other girls shredding.. Denise unlucky fell twice so she was definitely placed fourth in the comp. Then I saw Tor having a killer run with smooth tricks and some good air tricks. After that Angie landed two 5's and some good rail stuff unlucky she fell on the kicker.. But both of them really made me nervous.. I just thought: “alright now, I have to do my run..” It worked in quali's it should work in finals as well.. I added another air trick and then after my Mobe I thought okay that was probably your most sketchy trick now just focus and ride all the way out.. And it worked after my last trick a SW HS 540 I had it and was very stoked!!

I’m so happy I did not lose that one title I still had.. I was still World Champion with only a 10 day preparation before the comp.. After 4 months not riding at all.. It was unbelievable! Very happy and cannot wait until next year to defend it again!!
It was an awesome trip and happy I could go there. thanks to my sponsors Protest and Jobe for helping me and supporting!

For now, I’ll be at home for a long while.. Not going anywhere for wakeboarding. So this was a good end of the season! For more results or info about the WWA Wake park world Championships check out www.thewwa.com Also check out my video that Sjors edit of us from riding at Hip-Notics. And don’t forget to check out videos and photos on my website www.maxinesapulette.com

Cheers and see you at the next comp. Wake the Pool in February at the Messe Halle in Leipzig Germany.

The first days at Hip-Notics

The first days at Hip-Notics

By:Maxine Sapulette
I arrived on Thursday in the afternoon at Antalya International Airport, it was already dark so I did not ride anymore. I was very stoked to be back at Hip-Notics to ride with Sjors! It’s been a while since we were on a trip together.

On Friday after the first day of riding I felt a bit powerless, but still had it in me LOL, and I felt like the luckiest girl in the world being back on the water.

Saturday I woke up very sore of course and couldn’t really move or ride at all. So I did a few laps only and enjoyed the sun at the side of the lake. I also enjoyed the nice and hot Jacuzzi here at Hip-Notics.

The same day we met some other Dutchies, really cool people and after a day of chilling and riding we played a game of poker in the evening me and Sjors kicked everyone out and went heads up. Eventually Sjors kicked my ass too.

Today was a good day of riding, less sore muscles and more power. Me and Sjors did some sessions with the Go-Pro camera.

They put in the B-Frame on the right spot and I hit it first time and fell so hard! I hit my hip on the top and fell upside down in the water. After that crash I had to try it again to save the fear for the B-Frame. And it worked perfectly afterwards.

Too bad all the Dutchies left in the afternoon so it’s just me and Sjors and we have our friend Robert Pokoveè from Slovenia to join us riding. He will leave to Abu Dhabi as well next Sunday.

So we have a week with the cable on our own, some locals and Germans. But it’s very nice to ride with less people. The tricks are getting there and I'm getting more fit every day.
Ok that was it for now, let’s see how the rest of the days will be. Write soon again. Thanks for following!

Cheers Maxine

I have been off the water for quite a while now. Beginning of August I did a medical test including a cycle test. In cool down fase my heart failed. It stopped for about 20 seconds.
This was very shocking news, doctors told me I couldn’t ride at Cable Call. So I watched along the side of the lake to see the girls shred at Protest Cable Call. Which sucked, but I was happy to be there, happy I was still there and not in the hospital.

For about two weeks I had this machine on me that rated my heartbeat and all that kind of stuff, after that I did different cycle tests but doctors couldn’t find anything weird.

But they kept telling me I cannot ride within the next 5 months. Which meant that I was not allowed to ride my wakeboard until beginning of January. I was upset and could not believe that this would be the first year of my career in wakeboarding in which I couldn’t join the Dutch and European Championships.

Months past and last month I finally got a second opinion from another doctor from another city. This doctor tested me again. He did several tests to see what’s going on with my heart. At the end he did not find anything weird and so he made it official and said I do not know why you shouldn’t be wakeboarding. I now allow you to ride again.
This great news made me go insane because I have spent too much time at home this year. I'm happy at home as well, I did find a great job at the Dutch company “Fresh Today” which is helping me a lot to keep my head clear. Also I got my driver’s license, never thought I would even get it.. But I was very convinced that I should go on a wakeboard trip as soon as possible. The Wake Park World Championships 2011 was my chance to make my come back.
Lucky I got the doctor’s results before this comp. I did not hesitate and booked flights to Hip-Notics leaving last Thursday for one and a half week to train. Then on the 5th of December I’ll be flying out to Abu Dhabi to join the Wake Park World Championships 2011. This will be the only chance of me either defending my title or at least get a good result at this comp since I missed all the other competitions.

I'm very excited to go ride at Hip-Notics in Antalya, my friend Sjors is coming along and hopefully he can learn me some cool tricks to put in my run for the Worlds. More information coming soon, hope you'll keep checking out my fan page since my website is not working at the moment. Cheers Max
