Fitting fashion on the Internet update
29 junio 2017
Hi guys! Time for an update on the ‘fitting fashion on the Internet’ project. As you may remember from my previous post about this, this project aims to diminish the amounts of returns in online shopping environments. To achieve this, online retailers should focus on optimizing sizing.
Last week, during a meeting with my fellow project members, we started to investigate what method of measuring a person’s chest and waist, provides the most accurate results. We ended up examining four different methods:
Letting a person measure him/herself with measuring tape
An expert measuring a person with measuring tape
Scanning a person with measuring equipment on an iPad
Making a 3D scan of person’s body
At the end of the day, the expert measurement and the 3D scan proved to be most reliable. However, since most of us neither have 3D scanners nor a measuring expert at home, the next step in this project is to examine how we can make methods 1 and 3 more reliable. I’ll keep you posted on the results!
