The stitching techniques of our wetsuits

13 may 2019
A wetsuit is essential for watersports and will protect your body. An important determinant of the warmth and flexibility of the wetsuit is the stitching of the seams. There are two kind of stitches: basic flatlock stitching and the high end blindstitch. We’ll explain you in this article.

The stitching techniques of our wetsuits

Flatlock stitching

Flatlock stitching is most common stitching technique. The main advantage is that it is a super durable and strong technique. However, flatlock stitching perforates the neoprene. This means water might still enter the wetsuit. That’s something you might not want when performing watersports in colder temperatures.

Blindstitch

We use the Blindstitch technique in our high end wetsuits that are meant to keep you warm. Blindstitch means the wetsuit is only stitched on the outside of the neoprene and the seams are glued on the inside. Water does not enter the wetsuit that way, which is what you want in cold water temperatures. The technique also makes the wetsuit even more flexible.
