Wakeboard binding tips: how do I choose wakeboard bindings?
Picking the right binding is something important! Because if your binding doesn’t have a comfy fit, you’ll want to get rid of the binding soon enough. So when buying a pair of your favorite wakeboard kicks, it’s always good to check them out at a shop and try them on! So have a look at the Store Locator, go to your dealer and go shoe shopping!

In order to help you out, we’ve made an overview of what to look for when buying your bindings.

1. Closed or Open toe?
Buying bindings for fun with friends and family or just something for yourself? That’s the choice you have to make first! Open toe bindings are perfect when you want to share them with multiple people, because you will be able to squeeze a few more shoe sizes. This makes it easier to pass around a board and share the stoke when riding.

Closed toe bindings offer more response and are something you buy when you want to treat yourself right. Going to ride with “me, myself & I” then take a closed toe binding.

2. Modular or classic?
If you choose to ride a closed-toe, you also get to choose if you want to ride a modular binding like our fixed binding or a binding with a traditional base. The traditional binding has the classic feel to it, which you’re used to from a binding. Our modular bindings offer more control due to the inserts which are placed under the foot. But the big advantage is that you can walk around with these bindings through all kinds of terrain!

3. Velcro or laces
To Lace or not to lace, that is the question! There is a difference between Velcro and laces, mainly being that velco is easier to use. Laces takes up a bit more work but you can tighten these nicely. There’s no better option it’s all about preference.

4. It’s all about the #Fitlife
When we’re talking about fit, we don’t mean your physical state but the fit of the boot. How does it fit around your foot, is it a snug or loose fit? Wide or Narrow? But most importantly is it comfortable (for a wakeboard boot, it’s not a pair sneakers)? If you feel the binding is comfortable, that’s the most important part! There’s no use in buying bindings which don’t feel comfortable when you’re in them.

Trying on a closed toe binding? Then there are some extra things to pay attention to. When trying on the boot you don’t want your all your toes to touch the front of the binding. This gives a constant pressure on your toes which can lead to cramps in your foot. So a bit of space in the front of the bindings is okay, as long as you don’t have full contact with all your toes once you’re in the bindings. If you do have full contact and are experiencing pressure, it would be good to size up! The rest of the binding should offer a snug fit which makes sure your foot can’t slide around in the binding. Make sure you tighten the binding correctly when trying it on to get a good feel of this.

If you pay attention to this, you should be all good when buying your perfect binding! We do want to give you some extra tips so we have a few extra tips which you need to keep in mind.

Keep in mind!
- When trying boots, make sure you’ve cut your toenails!
- Whether a binding is flexible or stiff, keep in mind that with enough pressure and riding it will become more flexible. If you’re a rider with full access to a boat or season ticket, you might ride often which causes a binding to become more flex in a short period of time.
- Liners soften up and will have a more comfy fit after a period of riding, just break those puppies in!

There you have it, all the info you need to make a choice in which binding you will ride this season! No go out there, put on some boots and start riding!
