Wakesurfers
Recent years have seen wakesurfing explode in popularity, offering a new and entertaining way to enjoy the water. A slower speed than wakeboarding, wakesurfing is usually more beginner friendly, and water conditions don't have to be perfect. As a new sport grows, so do the boards, and there are tons of Jobe options available for different kinds of riders. There are a variety of wakesurf boards out there, from skim to surf style, length options and shapes - picking the right one can be daunting. Why don't we take a look at the basics, helping you pick out the board you'll truly have the most fun on?

How to choose your wakesurfer

Wavesurfers come in many shapes allowing riders of varying riding abilities to utilize them in their own way. There are many wakesurf board shapes inspired by surf and skimboards, and they tend to fall into three general categories: surf shapes, skimboard shapes, and hybrid shapes that combine both surf and skimboard styles.

First, lets take a look at the skimboard style wakesurfers Jobe has to offer! Skim style wakesurf boards are smaller than traditional wakesurf boards and take up less surface area than traditional wakesurf boards, so they are more playful in the water. In addition, their fins are smaller and their bottom features are fewer, so the board feels loose and more like a skimboard on the wave. A skim board is very different from a surf board, a skim board wants to twist, slide, and do anything to take the wave!

Next, let's take a look at the surf style of Jobe wakesurfers. Traditionally wakesurf boards resemble surf shortboards but are generally more compact. There are a wide variety of Jobe wake surfs to choose from, and they come in all shapes and sizes. Wakesurf boards designed in a surf style have the largest total surface area for maximum grippage on the wave. With a wide variety of fin options, surf style boards often enable riders to maximize their speed and power at the top of the wave in order to pump the wave. Jobe Surf style boards tend to keep their speed on the surface thanks to their added volume and touch points on the water.

Finally, lets look at the last category, the Hybrids. Jobe hybrids would be the result if the Surf and Skim style boards had a baby. In addition to the wide variety of hybrid shapes, skim style shapes with surf fins fall in this category, too. This combination helps to offer the qualities of both a skim board and a surfboard.
